Changemaker Scholar Designation Cohort

To get started in becoming a Changemaker Scholar, 1) sign up for a Virtual Info Session, and then, 2) if you are ready to proceed click the "Join" button above (or click here) to join the Changemaker Scholar Cohort! Once you are part of the group, you can continue completing the remaining requirements listed below. 

OVERVIEW

The Changemaker Scholar designation is a college‑recognized distinction for MDC students who want to make a real difference—on campus, in their community, and beyond. As a Changemaker Scholar, you’ll combine hands‑on service, civic action, and skill‑building experiences to turn your values into impact. Along the way, you’ll build a digital portfolio in the Changemaker Hub, develop leadership and career‑ready skills, and connect your academic learning to real‑world change. When you graduate, you won’t just earn a degree—you’ll earn recognition on your transcript, a digital certificate, and special commencement honors that show employers and universities you’re a leader who takes action. Requirements of the Changemaker Scholar Designation:

• Attend a Virtual Info Session 
• Join the Changemaker Scholar "subgroup" here  
• Complete 5 Skills-Based Learning experiences*
• Attend a Changemaking 101 workshop, then complete Civic Action CW-22 
• Complete 200 points on the Civic Action Scorecard (earning the Silver Civic Action Award)
• Complete 40 hours of service that meet the MDC Standards of Service and are verified in EngageMDC
• Complete Capstone Reflection  
• Apply for Scholar Designation

2. Scroll down to see Civic Actions that count as "skills-based trainings"
3. If you complete an experience you think meets the criteria, submit it via one of the "skills-based trainings" Scorecard actions listed below: CW-13B, CW-13C, DE-14B, DE-14C, ES-18B, ES-18C, SI-05B, or SI-05C
4. If you aren't sure if an experience meets the criteria, a) meet with your campus' iCED representative, and b) submit page 2 of the criteria document for consideration if necessary (your iCED representative will tell you)
