Organization Overview
I completed my community service hours at a local organization that provides food assistance and
basic health services to underserved populations in Miami. The organization offers resources such
as food distribution, wellness services, and support for individuals in need.
Observation
I arrived before opening time and noticed that there was already a long line of people waiting
outside. This demonstrated a high level of need in the community. The weather was cloudy and it
seemed like it might rain, yet people were still waiting patiently.
Community Needs
The people waiting appeared to come from underserved backgrounds, showing how essential
these services are. Many individuals depend on this organization for food and basic support.
Economic Reflection
On my way to the location, I noticed that gas prices were high, around $4.30 per gallon. This made
me reflect on how rising costs affect individuals who are already struggling financially.
Personal Reflection
This experience made me more aware of the challenges people face daily. Seeing individuals
waiting in line, even in uncertain weather, created a strong sense of empathy and understanding.
Leadership Connection
This experience connects to leadership because it shows that true leadership is about service,
compassion, and helping others. Organizations like this demonstrate leadership by supporting
vulnerable communities.
Conclusion
Community service is not only about helping others but also about learning, growing, and becoming more aware of the needs around us.
