About
Mission Statement:
To encourage students to think about and appreciate the artistic, historical, and cultural significance of film through monthly screenings and discussions.
Club Structure:
For the fall semester, each month will be dedicated to a specific genre: Horror October, Action November, and Holiday/Winter December. Every month, the club president, vice-president, and advisor will put together a list of 12 movies from each genre, and they will pick one title from a bowl to screen during club meetings. Members will be encouraged to watch the remaining movies from each list on their own time.
Club meetings will consist of the film screening and a lively discussion afterward. Club members will be sent a Google Form, provided by the FFF board, with questions that will help members think critically about the film that will be viewed. These questions will help lubricate the post-film conversation. Additionally, two students will be selected at random after each discussion to participate in a short form podcast which will be published on the StoryBytes website.
Attendance of meetings/screenings is mandatory for membership, while active participation in the film discussions and podcasts are strongly encouraged.
We hope that by the end of the club, all members feel inspired to continue to explore the art of film and create new conversations about the history, current state, and future of film.
